Clean 'im up Gov

Swept away by the clash and mash of style on style, collections and presents combined in one 'it works' environment. And then there is Joe & Co. barbers in Soho London (7 Greens Court, Soho London, W1F 0HQ, P: 020 7734 7000).

The brand identity, website, stationary and interiors were all designed by Hyperkit London and each element was made to fit with the idea of a deconstructed yet traditional barbershop.

There are plenty of recognizable features. Taking inspiration from workshops, sheds, garages – the unofficial residences of the contemporary clientele – the Joe & Co. space is fitted out in warm, natural material (English oak and power-coated steel) and the technical but not overly finished furniture (impeccably made by Takara Belomt and Joep Van Lieshout) retain a ‘traditional’ and organic feel in a straightforward way.

It’s easy to see where the logo took its influences from – the blue and orange a modern substitute to the traditional barbershop red and white pole and checked floors.

Snip Snip along if you're in that part of town.

More than a little

I had a conversation with my gorgeous friend Longy, about the creative direction that Sass&Bide have taken the last few seasons. Honestly, it wasn't all roses (though, it's ironic that i've dropped an easy $000 on pieces they've done over the last few months...) however there is no way I can fault their SS11 (nth) / AW11 (sth) 'papa sucre' collection.

It's a smart, sexy, 'designed' collection with what seems to be a move back to the simple elegance of great cut with a serious raw and organic edge shown in the prints, accessories and styling of their recent Fashion Week show.

The colours are so bang on - simply Australian, with a global attitude. I'm also in love with the front bun-slash-back-braid done by Renya Xydis and her talented team. My picks:

Draw a line

Sometimes, I wish that the world was designed. That everything was stylized and refined and clean and ordered. Until the world becomes that way and then I get a little full moon on myself and need to break free. I do feel however that I could be guided 1984-style with beautiful sports propaganda. Or whipped into shape by Alan Clarke's proposed posters for the for London 2012 Olympic Games transport. These are beautiful and equal to his tip your hat great LA Marathon t-shirt.

Deservedly so, Clarke's work has featured in Creative Review and Wallpaper* Magazine, as well as online by The Architects Journal, FFFFound, and Etre.

Music in your fingers?

Locked in the drudgery of 7 til 10 London ad world? Time to spice it up a trick with this cracker posted by Addiction Entertainment for a full-time Creative Designer.

Based in Central London, you'll need to have your inner "on" on because you'd be working primarily for music companies, producing creative campaigns for the music and entertainment industry. You need experience and stuff (much of which is SO out of my realm I can't actually describe!) but check it out if you're interested.

And if you need anymore prompting that this would be an ace-pos to score, and names and video clips such as Lady GaGa, Fleetwood Mac, Arcade Fire, The Killer and Andre Rieu don't impress you, I'm not sure that you're helpable. http://www.addictionentertainment.com/

Att(aboy)

I am so in love with Mo's little friend Atticus. I love that at such a young age, he is such a free, kindred little spirit, living to the beat of his own drum with his best friend Cassius to keep him company. He makes me smile.

FOUND

I spent two years looking at my life from the other side of a looking glass. I spent two years looking at my life from the centre of a tornado. I have spent the last 2 months looking at my life from the smooth, calm waters of sense of self. It feels like its time to hold onto it, more so than ever before. It's an amazing feeling when your life is pretty close to perfect. It's like beechwood. Which reminds me of pen pencil stencil's gorgeous scrap wood toys. Or Muji Toys In a Bag. These beautiful wooden figures for grown ups have the worth to become special mementos for someone else. Like Mo and her stunning NY and London gift from her architect Dad.

StalkinTribute

Not going to lie - love a FB stalk. Could I rock one of these and admit to being a creep everyday? Not sure. But kudos if you've got enough guts to do it! Mavi Power Staiano kinda does the ultimate groupie-bus-driver-attire - she's snatched about 5000 images and screen grabs from The Book - maybe even you - and printed them on T's as if they are memories of her own. Mostly showcasing the All American dream kid, I know a few out there who would love this as the ultimate present.
Cool kid and Mavi's bestie Julia.

HolySole

I'm a bit of a joke when it comes to fashion. I really only dig about a handful of colours to wear because I'm not into standing out to people that I don't know (think shades of grey, navy and olive green) and I'm also fussy about shoes. I love a whole lot but I live in black gladiator heels (though the wedges have been getting a work out), moccs or leather booties and black Havianas. I'm simple and prefer to clash my patterns, live in organic materials and rather than rock something in your face, keep it pretty structured.

Guess there is something in knowing your style - if Andy can do it. Warhol only wore one style - the Ferragamo "The Creations" shoe. His final pair was auctioned after his death and featured a simple, turquoise paint splatter from the Factory. Ferragamo and Dover Street Market's are bringing out a limited edition replication shoe - complete with paint - for those big big fans. I think these are worthy of a look in - not only for the manufacture but also because they are simply wonderful.

Wildest Dreams

Nicole Richie blows our minds again and again. Not only with her stunning gypset personal style, but as a designer the chick has her finger on the pulse. Check out the INCREDIBLE shoe collection that was launched last night in the US. The beautiful embroidery that is a touch tribal, a touch art deco, these shoes are seriously amazing.

And considering the latest eclectic prints put forward by duo Sass&Bide yesterday in London, it seems like come winter plenty will still be rocking the tribal luxe - blacks and whites spliced with silvers and golds - that started to filter in mid last year.

Cubism

Project rooms for some of the worlds most AMAZING artists, White Cubes are seriously hot. My favourite photographer in the world - Andreas Gursky - has shown his work. Large-scale, colour photographs that are well known for being chaotic nor featured element, they are often derived from inauspicious sources confronting the viewer with their own urban world .

If you're in the UK, check out one of the White Cubes (48 Hoxton Square, London N1 6PB +44 (0)20 7930 53 73 / 25-26 Mason's Yard, London SW1Y 6BU +44 (0)20 7930 53 73).

Pengu

Loving Sunday morning serene - watching the haze of a to-be-hot summer sky, hit the quiet lull of clean blue water, lapping against the cliffs at Dover Heights... The final Sunday morning hurrah...

Adding to the peaceful bliss, are images of 135 gorgeous 5ft penguins, painted up by 135 artists and local school children in Liverpool, England. Many carrying messages about climate change, the penguins are the final installation for the city's celebrations for the "Year of the Environment".

Served up by Wild in Art - an organisation that develops, manages and produces mass appeal educational art events - "Go Penguins" is beautiful, funny and insightful way to engage a community. Check out all of the designs here / a few of my faves below.
