Saturated. Totally and utterly swimming through the swamp and murky water to reach the other side. Today though, I can see the sunlight. Glimmering in slithers of green, like emeralds underneath, sliced with lemon and burnt orange. Playing and dancing in front of my eyes. Glittery streaks. Not too long now until I can take a breath. Arms more limber than yesterday, eyes more awake, breathing fresher and deeper every meter and minute. I can't wait to shake the journey off and live the finish line. Hello world - it's time for me re-smile.

Bright like

I'm currently obsessed with neon against neutral. The bright lights against the big city - slicing things up in a unique and unexpected way. I find myself bower-birding towards threads in weaves, the book on the shelf, the glimpse of a handful of bright nails. And it was by pure coincidence that I found the site of current artist numero uno Leif Podhajsky. The man behind the psychedelic rapture of Tame Impala and Gypsy and the Cat record covers, also created an insanely gorgeous little paper of color theory - Spectral Paper. I'm in love.

Back in 2009, when one Sloppy Joe who will remain (semi) nameless bailed up one part MoHo against a glass window while his wife to be was asleep in their bed, a slight little love of a real Joe was born. And Jaime Hince was voted Top 5. Same year Alison Mosshart made our Top 5 list of ladies du jour for her rock star antics and choice of male band-a-parts.

Years on The Kills still set a heart alight and the track leaks from their new album Blood Pressures (due for release April 5) are beyond excitement. All fuzzy and roughed up "Pots And Pans is The Kills at their slowest and lushable best.

November. Almost December. The month of the full moon, the scatter and the wild. Party season. I like party season. I like the sense of arms flung wide, give yourself up, release. I like the Zaror House by Jaime Bendersky Arquitectos. I like the rise of the massive concrete and wood elements that float in balance with the surrounds but that are begging for some damp to be thrown against, and then a cool cheek to be rest down hours later.

I'm not going to lie. I love Jonsi. I wrote about how beautiful the Sigur Rós lead singer's music was, especially when used with the inspirational Dulux "Let's Colour" campaign, and seeing him play live was a massive pleasure. BUT between that, the Temper Traps "Sweet Disposition" and The Cinematic Orchestra's "To Build a Home" us agency folk seem to be slim for the pickings when it comes to tracks used to support awesome creative.

All three of those tracks still give me goose bumps, thinking about the beautiful crescendo in To Build a Home, lined up with when the slow motion balloons burst for Schweppes is a spine tingling moment, and the new Photoplay spot for FOXTELS "100 Days of Summer" campaign is gorgeous and does makes me think about my bleached out summer days, making me nostalgic for when I was a child, covered in salt water, eating hot chip sandwiches, sitting on a fraying towel in the grass. Or now, shimmying in an outdoor breeze with my beautiful bronzed girlfriends. I buy it. But I wish that they'd considered the Joan of Arc remix of Gypsy and the Cats "Time to Wander"!

I've blogged my girl crush on little Lykke Li once before. The darling of the Euro-chic music scene, and the reason that high buns became mainstream, LL is A+ amazing.

And so too is her incredible new single, "Get Some". A bit big band retro, a bit fresh electro, she's got my vote as a Summer anthem when the vodka-blood oranges are flowing freely in the deapths of a dark dark, sweaty box club (ala Chingalings) where the boys are gruff and brooding and the sense of anticipation is at boiling point. I was one of the many who jumped on the interesting use of new and old technology via Arcade Fire's "We Used To Wait" vid clip... more so because I'm totally in love with every beautiful sound that comes from the Canadian family duo.

I do feel, however, that this incredible video clip for Australian wonders Angus and Julia Stone is incredible both sound and eye wise. Directed by Australian filmmaker Kiku Ohe and shot by cinematographer Hugh Miller (also responsible for the presets "this boy’s in love" clip), this vid is a simple story of dreaming and escape - right on brief (to create a cinematic and non-glossy visual representation of the music).

When Bro met Clay

I have a friend who loves him some Euro styling. He's interior choice is modern French which, I have to say, shocked me given his DJ cues and distressed leather wear. I thought of him when I saw this Fabien Clerc sculpture titled "Back in the Good Old Days", and it's only 10% because of the Piracy flag in the back.

I don't even care that this sounds like Delphic (with a massive hit of Muse) and the straight up vocal hook makes it an easy choice for a firstish single. So ready for the incredible British rockers that are the Klaxsons being literally moments away from releasing new album "Surfing The Void" and I'm a little bit breathless, and excited, and fidgety and swallowed up all at the same time. And forget budgets. I love that the video clip for this beautiful track is desert cool with doses of burning sun and purple haze serenity. Klaxons "Surfing The Void" is released August 23rd.

If you know the story of Jónsi then it should come as little surprise that his track Go Do is the perfect accompaniment for the video to promote the "Lets Colour Project" - a world wide initiative from Dulux, Dulux Valentine, Coral and Marshall that aims to "spread colour all over the world" by teaming up with impoverished and local communities to paint the otherwise dull world around them.

Lead vocalist for Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós, as well as an acclaimed solo artist, Jón “Jónsi” Þór Birgisson would otherwise have the world as we know it stacked against him - being openly gay, as well as disabled - however his unbelievable falsetto voice and crazy amazing cello bow on guitar make him such a sound of now. His beautiful 2010 album "Go" produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Tokyo Police Club) was an amazing buy and I recommend picking it up... perfect listening in on a Sunday afternoon with friends over for a warming up roast, or bbqs under coloured light bulbs in the summer afternoon sun.
