We are so so so excited that Local Produce is back in town. Not only is it a stella fun night out, the art is uber amazing AND to top it off, we know and have the opportunity to call many of the artist involved our best friends.

Suck (it) Up

After too many nights at OAF and Q-Bar, we're left with some sweet little peach black and whiteys that we love sticking up to remember the fun fun times. Que (ha!) the Clipboard Mirror. Stylish and simple, its uber perfect for remembering the past, and prepping for the future. Love it - definitely a musty.

Some Alessi magic for a Friday

Calvin Harris - Humanthesizer

We heard about it. And now we've seen it.

Calvin Harris - him of All The Girls and buzz-fly glasses - covered 15 bikini'ed ladies in conductive body ink, which then (read slow...its confusing) turned them into a "giant Arduino-powered synth capable" which played Ready for the Weekend through Max/MSP and Ableton Live. For those that don't know what that means, don't worry, explanation below...

Each chicka was given a patch, tripped up to sensors on their hands and feet. Every time they closed their hand or moved a foot eg DANCED the movement bounced the sound.

Its weird, but pretty f-ing cool. Check out the making of, and the actual video (hear the track from 1:46) below.

Hello Pretty

Longchamp is stellar-fella. Remember days carrying a Le Pliage bag filled with pretty towls and Paw-Paw and tea to watch the Riverview/Joes Ra-Ra and Head of the River when at school. Seriously going to be snappin' one of these ANDAM reworks for summer.

Fashion designers Bless, Jeremy Scott and Charles Anastase (all past winners of the covered ANDAM award) have upped the ante on the Le Pliage by desiging spech version to celebrate 20years of ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode).

Pretty, we're loving the Charles Anastase's sweetie versions which include line drawings of ballet slippers and Persian cats on white. Of course, Jeremy Scott never fails to deliver the goods with a kooky-self portrait (rockin' out a blue steel)! Up there with the 10year Anniversary range that Tracey Emins did for them a few years back. Peach.

Thanks Gwenny! CHICKEN SALAD SERVES: 4 / TIME: 20 minutes

2 1/2 cups shredded poached chicken
1 large stalk celery, cut into 1/4” dice
1/2 green apple, peeled and cut into 1/4” dice
1/3 cup toasted walnuts, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 scallions, thinly sliced
2 handfuls arugula, roughly chopped
1/2 cup Veganaise, or your favorite mayonnaise
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
coarse salt to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)
freshly ground black pepper to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)

Stir everything together. BOOM.

Stacked On

We wear a lot of jewellery. The pear tree is always covered, and so are our fingers, necks, ears and chests. Whether it be refined silver or gold styles, chunky beads, semi precious stones, or even Scotty-dog brooches, we really love our jewels as an extension of our souls.

We also love jewellery on our boys. Cuffs, rings, low-hung chains... we find it exciting and dirty and wonderful all at the same time. Thinking back, we can't really recall a boy that we're been around who hasn't been wearing as much as us.

This season, Mouton Collet has tickled our fancy for special boys pieces. Two waffles (Matthieu Mouton and Nicolas Collet) developed a confidential line of jewels for boys after joining forces - having worked on collaborative projects prior (including work for Kenzo, Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens and Herve Leger). The boys were friends in school, and while their company is based in Belgium, they work from their Paris studio on their androgynous collections.

Currently only available in France, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Japan and Taiwan we see a special niche for MoHo on this one! Stay tuned.

'LOVE WANT' FANZINE ISSUE 1'

A beautiful fanzine created by photographer Bec Parsons and stylist Imogene Barron, the photography sums up the MoHo spirit - fun, flirty, unexpected, naughty, feminine, inspiring. Bi-annually available at The Corner Shop in Sydney, Love Want "unites your hearts desires with what your mind craves".

The zine was designed by our beautiful friend Mitch Beige Brown. We love him, adore him, and generally think he is a sprinkle of magic. Just a small selection of him if you click here...

You'll know his work and have seen it around if you're familiar with Modular, Chrønicles Øf Never, Banggang 12inches (BG12”) and the like. He's the 80's/90's minimalist design guru who is all things contrasted-out, iconic graphics...

Clean Shakti Soul

Sickness. Its your body's way of telling you that you're burning the wick beyond the ability to self repair. Everyday we're bombarded by an assortment of poisons - daily accumulations of metabolic by-products, environmental pollutants, processed foods and chemicals which result in toxicity within our bodies.

While the day to day can make it hard to truly focus on your self and its easy to be complacent, making your soul, body and energy into one focal point each and every moment becomes a way of life that can see you grow and blossom into your one true self.

There has been lots of press recently about the Shakti Mat. We found it a year or so ago after an acupuncturist recommended sweet home remedies due to killer days (and nights) working in the advertising industry. With around 6000 points of acupressure on the mat, it stimulates pressure points which increases blood circulation and promotes the release of happy hormones - endorphins and oxytocine (if you've never heard of this one, trust us, you want more of it...).

Most use the mat for back and neck treatment - helping headaches, confusion, excessive thoughts and stress - but to assist in realigning all of the energy points through the body, standing on the mat works all of the reflexology zones which can be found in your feet.

Its not just about the pretty. Dressing is about feeling more than you've ever felt before.

Influenced by hometown Dubrovnik, Karla Spetic sure knows how to make fashion work. As complexed as they are unique and beautiful, Spetic pieces feel independant and bold thanks to structured tailoring techniques widely dismissed by most Australian designers.

Striking, we cant wait for the S/S 09-10 collection to hit stores. Pretty sure its gonna be a mostly-wearing this summer.

Helvetica flavoured.

We tend to agree that chocolate is better for you with Helvetica. Designed by Ruiz+Company (Zamora 45, 5º 2º 08005 Barcelona. Spain. estudi@ruizcompany.com) for the Chocolat Factory, this packaging is neat-o.

The Chocolat Factory was always going to be rooted in cool - the company was set up by Belgium-born architect and interior designer, Michel Laline, who believes that chocolate should be all about design ethos. Case in point is The Vase - a large chocolate vase with chocolate sticks that can be displayed as a decorative item before being devoured. Check out the website for some awesome cool.

Flow.

Time is slipping pretty darn slow today as dreaded illness attacks. We needed a little pick me up to feel better and Bristish product and furniture designer, Oscar Diaz delivers the pretty.

"Ink Calendar" is a little piece of working art that tells the time in a sweeet kinda way. Made from paper and monthly colour co-ordinated ink (the colours are based on our perception of the year...ranging from oranges in Autumn to lush red and yellow hues for Summer etc), the days of the month are "printed*" as the ink is absorbed slowly each day. The calendar self-updates as your change the inks out each month which which enhances the general perceptions of time passing.

So beautiful, and so simple smart. Its hard to understand how people can have bland, bareness when a little peach like this makes life so exciting.

*The ink flow is based on capillary action - the tendency of a liquid to rise in narrow tubes or to be drawn into small openings. Think a dry paper towel absorbing liquid by drawing it into the narrow openings between the fibers. Science lesson DONE!

Clean and Serene. Again.

The cleansing vibes of beautiful straight lined designs are badly needed today. The cool feeling of hard material versus the warming softness of woven textile would be a peach right about now. Sweet suns rays bouncing off lapping ripples, and projecting Mother Nature light shows on whitewashed walls. Lush green grass, so soft that you feel like you could fall in and let it swallow you whole.

Declared "the most beautiful building of the century" by many a critic, the Barcelona Pavillion was designed and built to be the German Pavilion for the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona, Spain. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (the KING behind the Barcelona Chair!) it was the loved for its simple, clean form and the use of extravagant materials, such as marble and travertine. Bizarrely, because this beautiful building was only planned as a temporary exhibition space, it was torn down after a year of existence. The building that stands today is an exact reconstructed by a group of adoring Spanish architects to exist permanently.
