Remember Me Not

Moments. So many in a lifetime. Making up your personal story.

It's amazing how some things stick in your mind so vivid, more than others, and all it takes is a tiny spark to set off the chain reaction that conjours up a time past. But where do those spirals backwards take you? To a different moment now, and a different path for the future? Whatever that journey, nothing detracts from that single moment. Where time stood still, just for an instance.

This season, We Are Handsome draws on special moments - a catalyst for taking you into the smallest pockets of your imagination and your memory, and lets them play out in the now. We Are Handsome's latest collection "The Memories" imposes beautiful, strong, nostalgic prints on bold, modern but timeless cuts of swimwear - as well as (for the first time) mini dresses and leggings (a wardrobe staple).

Launched from a Sydney base in 2009 by fashion babes Indhra Chagoury (ex Oscar & Elvis) and Jeremy Somers (People Like Us), We Are Handsome is truely Aussie and can be found in the worlds most incredible boutiques, including Opening Ceremony, Colette, Harvey Nichols, plus online (Net-a-Porter.com) to name only a few. Photographed for Vogue, Grazia, Elle, Harpers and worn by some of the worlds most fashion saavy women (including the likes of can-do-no-wrong Diane Kruger and Rachel Bilson) We are Handsome is fashion for the beach and for after.

Copper Spun. Ellery.

In my world, gold can do no wrong. The purest of metals which glimmers and and heals and purifies and balances energy. Gold encourages well being and health. Which is funny. Because copper does exactly the same - calming tiredness and restlessness. Which is what I need going into a five day long weekend. And Kim Ellery sure knows how to transfix you into that mood.

Ellery Spring/Summer 11.12 is a juxtaposition between serene and fierce. Its exudes femininity within its structured lines by utilising flowing fabric. I loved looking at these while being saturated in the sound of Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke "Ego". And I want to be saturated in this collection for winter.

ON TONIGHT: Tic Taco II (7pm @ Beach Burrito)

When all of the love heart shaped chocolates and sweet nothings have been packed away for another year, and you need a healthy dose of sweat and party, come play at Jussykin's (now) annual photo exhibit Tic Taco II - a skateboarding photographic exhibition by Justin Barnwell @ Beach Burrito, Bondi Beach.

A round up of shots from the 2010 Bowl-a-Rama festivities, last years night proved to be bang up and this one is sure not to disappoint. Can't wait to see you there for some shots (both the camera and alcoholic kind!) For more JCB shots check his site http://www.justinbarnwell.com/. Rocking.

i want to ride my bicycle i want to ride my bike

Christmas. It's around this time my eyes and ears start to perk up with what to fill my wish list with. This year, I want a fold-up bike. I want to have constant access to a set of wheels that let me cruise past the sand and the waves at twilight with my friends, hair whipping, laughing, slightly tipsy. Legs off the pedals, out to the side, ultimate freedom.

I then stumbled on Belarus-based industrial designer Igor Buturlia's "Cafe Racer" and have decided that maybe, this is a little bit more my style.

lickeelie

I've blogged my girl crush on little Lykke Li once before. The darling of the Euro-chic music scene, and the reason that high buns became mainstream, LL is A+ amazing.

And so too is her incredible new single, "Get Some". A bit big band retro, a bit fresh electro, she's got my vote as a Summer anthem when the vodka-blood oranges are flowing freely in the deapths of a dark dark, sweaty box club (ala Chingalings) where the boys are gruff and brooding and the sense of anticipation is at boiling point. Check it out here. Lykke Li 'Get Some' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01JMA587Zo0

Promener...*

Summer is blowing in so, so gently, that it feels time to forget about the year and slip quietly backwards into an ultimate state of quiet. The simplicity of closed eyes, arms open, welcoming the freshness of a new year.

Nothing spells reflection like the environment you're in, and Paul Babera sums that up in a nut shell via his personal work "LOVE LOST" - an ongoing narrative of women in their space. A Melbourne-ite but spreading his love and works between Australia, and Amsterdam (and all that is inbetween), Barbera is an establish interiors and fashion photographer shooing for titles such as Elle Decor, Grazia and Vogue Living

A friend and an idol, PB is just so right. And makes me long for the sojourn skipping close by on the future. *for Guui

Sa Sa Sa Sauuuummmer!

Sydney sauced over the weekend with the divinity of Summer shining down. Bleached out bliss, of rays on white white sands, and the twinkle of fun hitting the waves.

Brisbane label Vanguard makes me think of Australian summer. The colours, the casual hang, the simple, sweet things that let you sit, all complacent, without a care in the world, soaking up the best time of your life.

Stocked in 60 stores throughout Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Japan, Vanguard also just signed a deal with Bloomingdales and my good friend Mitch Beige Brown does a lot of design work for them. They also have a sweet little online store. www.vanguardfashion.com.au

Stuck

I originally saw a Willy Verginer in *Wallpaper. A man, that went through the floor (or the ceiling) from one floor to the next in an advertising agency. And thought that it was a really interesting way to connect two spaces.

I think I want a pool. Rectangle. Surrounded by concrete. With a powder blue paint job, and edgeless lip, and a long, diving plank. And in the corner, by a fern and a spa (that is set aside, in a dark part, almost like a grotto), I want a Verginer man. Wearing goggles, all silent and still and cool, but with his little splice of colour, and looking over the still water, like a protector, as I lie in the sun. Hot concrete against cheek and the quietness of alone, and a closed eye red tint.

Grasssy

Stunning little gorgeous friend Stephanie had a birthday not too long ago and Mr Grass spun the tunes. Fun night and the crowd (eg us) loved it. Download or listen to his Summer mix for cravings sake here and check him decks and all around Sydney's Kings Cross weekend in and out.

Winter Bliss

It might be cold out, but the sun is shining. Always shining. You just need to feel and let the stunning warmth of happiness wash over you. They say there is a silver lining to every cloud. Maybe rays in every day. And the sun never sets when there is music that reminds me of December...

Living in America

Once upon a time, in a Malibu oasis, Thornton Abell designed a studio and residence of artist Rico Lebrun (an Italian born painter and sculpture, responsible for impressive exhibitions at the Guggenheim and Bambi, in Disney's feature film). A central atrium, a heart, tucked deep inside, with the rest of the space pin-wheeling off it, makes up the basis of this house - a subtle separating process. These exaggerated proportions have since been redeveloped by Space International from the original design, opened up with extensive use of skylights to contrast against the Brazilian walnut and pearwood cabinets.
