Blythe ♥'s Laurence

There is no doubt that you would have seen a Blythe Doll in your time - but whether you took notice is another story.

Created in 1972 by designer Allison Katzman, Blythe's most distinctive feature were her eyes, that change color with the pull of a string attached to the back of her head (v. creepy).

Bizarrely these gorgeous 4inch high beauties only sold retail for 1 year and were then pulled off the shelves because of lack of consumer interest... which makes it even more crazy to think you can't buy an original Kenner Blythe off eBay for less than $500 AUS. Of course there are the Japanese remakes, but...

There are also the people that photograph Blythe and we think Laurence Olivier*, is pretty spech. A 15yr old (!!!) who is not only Blythe obsessed, Laurence takes gorgeous candids of the world around her which truly evoke a sense that if you'd stopped, to really look at your life, to be just a touch introspective, and simplify, that the days would be stripped back and reveal the tiny elements that make you who you are.
